Backstory
Lily Farrell is a junior at The University of Alabama, where she is double-majoring in Dance and Creative Media. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, she was raised in Carmel, Indiana, alongside her mom, Yuki, her dad, Tom, her brother, Connor, and her sister, Addy.
Lily began dancing at a young age and trained at Expressenz Dance Center, where her love for dance quickly grew into a passion. It was also there that she discovered her love for teaching and mentoring young dancers through assistant teaching. Watching students gain confidence, develop new skills, and discover their own love for dance became just as rewarding to her as performing on stage. While choreography had always been a creative outlet, it soon became one of her greatest passions, allowing her to tell stories and connect with others through movement.
As she grew older, Lily discovered another passion through the world of film, media, and live production. What began as an interest in creative storytelling evolved into a fascination with how dance, music, lighting, video, and production can come together to create unforgettable live experiences. Today, she enjoys bringing together both artistic and technical elements to create meaningful performances and visual stories.
Fitness and strength training have also played an important role in Lily's journey as a dancer. Inspired by her mom, who began teaching Pure Barre when Lily was just seven years old, she grew up seeing firsthand the importance of building strength both inside and outside the dance studio. Pure Barre became an essential part of her own training. Lily is certified to teach Pure Barre Classic and Empower and loves both taking and teaching classes wherever she goes. She believes strength training is one of the most valuable investments a dancer can make. Building a strong technical foundation not only improves performance quality but also promotes injury prevention, confidence, mental wellness, and the longevity of a dancer's career. She strives to encourage dancers to view strength training as a powerful complement to their artistic development.
Music has been another lifelong source of inspiration. Lily's love of music grew naturally from her love of dance and was further nurtured by her dad, Tom. Whether sharing playlists, discovering new artists, or constantly texting each other new song ideas for future choreography, music has always been a central part of their relationship. Those shared moments helped shape Lily's musical taste and continue to influence the way she approaches choreography and storytelling.
Alongside her education in dance and media, she has accumulated over 18 years of dance training, 9 years of teaching and assistant teaching experience, 5 years of choreography experience, and 4 years of experience in video production and live event production. She has worked on creative films, live-streamed conferences, produced promotional content, and continues to explore new ways to blend movement with visual media.
Looking toward the future, Lily hopes to combine her passions by directing live events within the music industry while choreographing for concerts, tours, commercial productions, and live performances. She is passionate about creating experiences that seamlessly merge dance, music, film, and production into compelling stories that leave lasting impressions on audiences.
